Xila Ltd — Acceptable Use Policy

This Acceptable Use Policy ("AUP") sets out rules for using the Xila platform (the "Platform") operated by Xila Ltd ("Xila", "we", "us", "our").
It forms part of your agreement with us under the [Terms of Service (B01)](/legal/terms). Capitalised terms have the meanings given in B01 or our master definitions (A02).

1. Purpose
This AUP helps keep the Platform lawful, safe and trustworthy. It applies to all Users, Authorised Users, Business Accounts, Sellers, Employers, Candidates and Visitors using interactive features.
Breaching this AUP may result in content removal, feature restrictions, Account suspension or termination under our [Content Moderation and Appeals Policy (C06)](C06-content-moderation-and-appeals-policy.md).
2. General obligations
You must:
- comply with applicable law in the UK and any other jurisdiction where your activities have effect;
- comply with this AUP, our [Community Standards (C04)](C04-community-standards.md), feature-specific terms (B02–B10), and all policies referenced in the Terms;
- use the Platform only for its intended purposes;
- provide accurate information and honour commitments you make to other Users;
- respect intellectual property, privacy and other rights of others;
- use AI features responsibly and review outputs before relying on them or publishing them.
You must not use the Platform in ways that are illegal, harmful, deceptive, abusive or that create unreasonable risk to Xila, Users or third parties.
3. Prohibited content
You must not upload, share, solicit, generate, store or link to Content that:
3.1 Illegal content
- constitutes Illegal Content under UK law, including content offences under the Online Safety Act 2023 where applicable;
- promotes, incites or facilitates terrorism or violent extremism;
- constitutes child sexual exploitation or abuse material (CSAM), or sexual exploitation of children;
- facilitates human trafficking, modern slavery or sexual exploitation;
- unlawfully shares intimate images or threatens to do so;
- facilitates fraud, money laundering, bribery or tax evasion;
- infringes copyright, trade marks or other IP rights without authority;
- breaches court orders, confidentiality duties or export control restrictions.
3.2 Harmful and high-risk content
- encourages or provides instructions for serious self-harm or suicide;
- promotes dangerous acts likely to cause serious injury where shared without legitimate public interest safeguards;
- facilitates sale or supply of illegal drugs, weapons or other prohibited goods;
- contains malware, phishing, credential harvesting or other malicious code;
- shares personal data of others without a lawful basis (doxxing).
3.3 Hate and harassment
- is likely to harass, alarm or distress others, or targets individuals or groups with hateful conduct prohibited by our [Community Standards (C04)](C04-community-standards.md);
- constitutes unlawful discrimination or hate offences where applicable.
3.4 Sexual and violent content
- contains unlawful pornography or extreme pornography under UK law;
- depicts non-consensual sexual activity or exploitation;
- glorifies serious violence or cruelty in a manner that is unlawful or prohibited by our policies.
3.5 Deceptive and misleading content
- impersonates another person, brand, public figure or organisation without clear permission or lawful basis;
- misrepresents your identity, qualifications, affiliation or authorisation;
- contains false or misleading reviews, endorsements, listings or recruitment offers;
- omits material information required by consumer, advertising or employment law.
4. Prohibited conduct and activities
You must not:
4.1 Abuse, exploitation and harm to people
- harass, bully, stalk, threaten or intimidate others;
- exploit vulnerable people, including through financial, romantic or employment scams;
- solicit sexual content from minors or target minors (the Platform is 18+);
- facilitate prostitution, escort services marketed unlawfully, or sexual services illegal in the relevant jurisdiction;
- discriminate unlawfully in recruitment, housing, services or marketplace offers.
4.2 Fraud, scams and economic harm
- operate phishing schemes, advance-fee fraud, investment scams or fake giveaways;
- sell counterfeit, stolen or misdescribed goods or services;
- manipulate prices, reviews, rankings, votes or engagement metrics;
- use the Platform to launder proceeds of crime or evade sanctions;
- impersonate Xila staff or support to obtain credentials or payments.
4.3 Security and platform integrity
- attempt unauthorised access to Accounts, systems, APIs or data;
- probe, scan or test vulnerabilities except through an authorised bug bounty or written permission;
- bypass rate limits, paywalls, geographic restrictions or safety controls;
- distribute malware or launch denial-of-service attacks;
- scrape, harvest or index the Platform by automated means except via documented APIs we expressly permit;
- reverse engineer or extract source code except where mandatory law allows;
- interfere with moderation, reporting, appeals or enforcement processes.
4.4 Spam and manipulation
- send bulk unsolicited messages, comments or connection requests;
- use bots or fake Accounts to inflate engagement, sales or visibility;
- create multiple Accounts to evade enforcement or quotas;
- operate coordinated inauthentic behaviour or brigading.

4.5 Privacy and confidentiality
- share others' private information without permission or lawful basis;
- record calls, meetings or private messages without consent where consent is required by law or our Communications Terms;
- use the Platform to unlawfully surveil or monitor individuals.
Note: Xila does not claim to monitor all private messages. Users remain responsible for what they send and receive.
4.6 Intellectual property
- upload Content you do not have rights to use;
- remove or alter copyright notices or rights-management information;
- use the Platform primarily to distribute pirated materials or counterfeit listings.
Report IP concerns under our Copyright and Intellectual Property Policy.
5. Marketplace, rental and commercial use
If you list, sell, rent, promote or broker goods or services, you must not:
- list prohibited or restricted items (including illegal drugs, weapons, stolen goods, counterfeit products, unsafe goods, or items requiring licences you do not hold);
- misdescribe condition, pricing, fees, availability, location or delivery terms;
- circumvent applicable consumer rights, cancellation rights or distance-selling rules;
- use the marketplace to facilitate pyramid schemes, unlawful gambling, or unregulated financial products;
- solicit off-platform payments specifically to evade fees, fraud controls or buyer protections where Platform checkout is required;
- post fake enquiries or transactions to manipulate metrics.
Sellers and landlords remain responsible for product safety, licensing, tax, and sector-specific rules (for example, electrical goods, food hygiene, property licensing).
6. Recruitment and employment
Employers, Recruiters and Candidates must not:
- post fake jobs, bait-and-switch roles, or unpaid work disguised as employment where unlawful;
- discriminate unlawfully in job ads, screening or hiring;
- request excessive or irrelevant sensitive personal data;
- use AI screening as a solely automated final hiring decision where human review is required;
- harvest CVs for unrelated marketing databases;
- misrepresent salary, visa sponsorship, working conditions or identity of the hiring organisation.
Candidates must not submit fraudulent CVs, impersonate others, or misrepresent qualifications or right-to-work status.
Additional rules apply under Recruitment Terms (B07).
7. AI and automation
You must not use AI Services to:
- generate or disseminate Illegal Content or content prohibited by this AUP;
- create deceptive deepfakes or synthetic media intended to mislead others about identity, events or evidence, except clearly labelled lawful uses (for example, obvious satire where permitted);
- produce malware, phishing content or instructions for wrongdoing;
- make unlawful automated decisions about individuals without required safeguards;
- infer special category data about individuals without a lawful basis;
- spam, scrape or bulk-message Users;
- bypass safety filters or prompt protections;
- misrepresent AI outputs as human professional advice in regulated fields (legal, medical, financial) where you are not qualified.
You remain responsible for prompts you submit, Agentic Actions you authorise, and Content you publish based on AI outputs.
8. Communications and events
You must not:
- use calls, messages or events to facilitate any prohibited activity in this AUP;
- hijack meetings or events with disruptive, abusive or unlawful conduct;
- transmit unlawful recordings or live streams;
- use emergency-related features for non-emergency harmful pranks.
Xila is not an emergency service. Call local emergency services in an emergency.
9. Business Accounts and Authorised Users
Business Account owners must:
- ensure Authorised Users comply with this AUP;
- maintain appropriate internal permissions and offboarding;
- use personal data of employees, customers and candidates lawfully.
We may hold Business Account owners responsible for Authorised User breaches connected to their Account.
10. Reporting violations
If you become aware of violations, report them via in-Platform tools or safety@xila.com. See our [Online Safety and Content Reporting Policy (C05)](C05-online-safety-and-content-reporting-policy.md).
11. Enforcement
We may investigate suspected violations and take action under C06, including removing Content, limiting distribution, suspending features, freezing payouts pending review, or terminating Accounts.
We may preserve and disclose information where required by law or to protect Users and Xila.
12. No duty to monitor
Xila provides tools for reporting and safety. We do not represent that we monitor all User activity or private communications. We may take proportionate measures described in our policies and Privacy Policy.
13. Changes
We may update this AUP to reflect legal, safety or product changes. Material updates will be notified as described in the Terms. Continued use after the effective date constitutes acceptance, subject to mandatory law.
