Xila Ltd — Accessibility Statement

Version 0.1.0 — Draft for UK legal review

Effective date: [Effective Date]

This Accessibility Statement explains how Xila Ltd ("Xila", "we", "us", "our") approaches digital accessibility for the Platform available at https://www.xila.com and related applications.

We want as many people as possible to use and enjoy Xila. We are committed to improving accessibility over time and welcome feedback from Users who encounter barriers.

Contact: support@xila.com · accessibility@xila.com (may redirect to support@xila.com until a dedicated inbox is live)

1. Our commitment

Xila is building a broad digital platform that may include social features, marketplaces, messaging, events, recruitment tools and AI-assisted interfaces. Accessibility is an ongoing priority, not a one-time checkbox.

We aim to:

  • design and iterate features with accessibility in mind;
  • fix barriers when we become aware of them;
  • provide clear routes to report accessibility problems;
  • work toward recognised accessibility standards as our product matures.

We recognise that a complex, fast-evolving platform may not yet meet every accessibility expectation everywhere. This Statement describes our current position honestly.

2. Standards we work toward

2.1 WCAG aspiration

We aim toward conformance with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 Level AA for core public-facing website and application experiences.

Important: At the date of this Statement, Xila does not claim full WCAG 2.2 AA conformance across the entire Platform. Some areas, including newer features, third-party embeds, user-generated content layouts and certain AI interfaces, may not yet meet AA requirements.

We use WCAG 2.2 AA as a design and engineering aspiration to guide prioritisation, testing and remediation.

2.2 Equality Act 2010

We are mindful of our duties under the Equality Act 2010 not to discriminate against disabled people in the provision of services, including by failing to make reasonable adjustments where appropriate.

This Statement does not constitute an admission of non-compliance or a waiver of any rights.

3. What we are doing

Our accessibility work may include:

  • using semantic HTML and accessible component patterns where feasible;
  • supporting keyboard navigation for core flows;
  • providing text alternatives for meaningful non-text content where implemented;
  • maintaining readable colour contrast targets for core UI elements;
  • testing with automated tools and manual checks on priority journeys;
  • training product and engineering teams on accessibility basics;
  • reviewing new features for accessibility impact before wider release;
  • documenting known issues and remediation plans internally.

Specific initiatives will vary as the Platform develops. We do not claim certification under any third-party accessibility scheme unless and until we have valid evidence and approval to say so publicly.

4. Known limitations

Because the Platform is modular and evolving, Users may currently encounter barriers including, for example:

  • some custom or user-generated layouts that are difficult to navigate by screen reader;
  • insufficient labelling or focus management in certain interactive components;
  • video, audio or live communication features without full captions or transcripts everywhere;
  • AI chat or agent interfaces that are not fully optimised for assistive technology;
  • third-party payment, mapping or embedded widgets controlled by external providers;
  • PDF or document uploads from Users that are not accessibility-structured;
  • mobile experiences where touch targets or orientation support are inconsistent.

We are working to reduce these barriers over time. The list above is illustrative, not exhaustive.

5. Third-party content and User Content

Much Platform content is created by Users or delivered through third-party services. Xila cannot guarantee that all User Content, seller listings, event pages or external integrations are accessible.

Where we provide formatting tools, we encourage Users to use headings, alt text and clear structure. Business Users offering goods or services to the public should consider their own accessibility obligations.

6. Assistive technology and browsers

We aim to support current versions of major browsers and commonly used assistive technologies for core journeys. Optimal experience may require up-to-date browser and assistive technology versions.

We do not guarantee compatibility with every browser, device, or assistive technology combination.

7. How to report an accessibility barrier

If you have difficulty using any part of the Platform, we want to know.

Email: support@xila.com or accessibility@xila.com (when live)

Subject line: "Accessibility barrier"

Please include, where possible:

  • a description of the problem;
  • the page, feature or screen involved (URL if available);
  • the device, operating system and browser you are using;
  • any assistive technology you use (for example, screen reader, voice control);
  • whether you would like a response by email or an alternative contact method.

We aim to:

  • acknowledge accessibility reports within 5 business days;
  • provide an initial response or request for more information within 20 business days where practicable;
  • track issues and prioritise fixes based on impact and feasibility.

If you need information in an alternative format (for example, large print or plain-text summary of a policy), contact us and we will try to help within a reasonable timeframe.

8. Enforcement and complaints

If you are not satisfied with our response to an accessibility concern:

1. Escalate via our [Complaints Policy (C13)](C13-complaints-policy.md).

2. You may have rights to bring proceedings under the Equality Act 2010 or other applicable law.

Nothing in this Statement limits your statutory rights.

9. Preparation of this Statement

This Statement was prepared by Xila Ltd for the Platform at https://www.xila.com.
